Huntsville making changes to bus routes. Here’s what you need to know

Huntsville residents who ride the transit department’s Orbit bus system will need to check the department’s website next month to keep from waiting at what used to be a bus stop.

The transit department will be making changes to routes 1, 2 and 4 that Quisha Bryant, director of Huntsville’s Parking and Public Transportation Department, said will help improve service times and performance.

“They will also decrease operators’ risk of an accident because it takes buses out of congested areas,” Bryant said.

Bus rider Taletha Forte welcomes the changes that will affect how residents will travel to places such as the downtown square and Bridge Street Town Centre.

“My route is going to be more straight forward,” she said. “It’s going to be a shorter trip to the transit station on route 2. I ride all around. … The route was very lengthy. It was winding like a figure eight. Now it’s more straight.”
